On Saturday Spooner Varsity traveled to Chetek for the
Conference Tournament. Conference Tournament Saturday is always hard because
you play four matches at 2-3 games each which is extremely tiring. Being a
young team we are still getting used to each other on the court and
communication is an area we have been growing in all year. We are proud of many
of the girls who stepped up and played hard games. While we did not come out
with a match win, we did see many great things out of our players. We had many
moments where the girls rallied to gain back 6 or 7 points. This is a hard
task. We have three practices before the 2nd half of our Conference
Tournament and we will be working hard on skills and communication. Match
scores were: against Barron, 7-25 and 14-25, against Bloomer, 10-25 and 15-25,
against Chetek, 13-25 and 13-25, and against Ladysmith, 17-25 and, in a nail
biting game, 25-27.
Varsity hosts the 2nd half of the Conference Tournament
on Thursday, October 17th starting at 5:45. We will play Hayward,
Cumberland, and Northwestern. We would love to have huge crowds out for this
night.
We will also head to Northwestern on Tuesday, October 20th
for the first round of regionals. Northwestern is seeded #2. Match play begins
at 7:00 pm.
