Amery Match - September 2nd, 2015

Writing about a loss is always hard. Here's my best shot at it:

On Tuesday Spooner Volleyball hosted Amery. Our JV started off slow losing game one 7-25. They picked it up in game two, but lost game two 19-25 to lose the match. We will continue to work on refining skills in the next week. Our C-team battled both games but lost 15-25 and 23-25. We have 16 girls on C-team which is very promising, but also very challenging as a coach. Varsity took the court at 7:00. We couldn’t get our game going and made many serve receive and hitting errors. Amery took the lead 0-12. Battling back from that behind is very hard. We ended up losing game one 3-25. We talked in between games and the girls knew we needed to play differently if we were going to turn our game around. We battled back and forth with Amery until mid-game when Amery took the lead 11-18. We ended up losing game two 13-25. We made adjustments in game three putting in Carson Johannes and Meagan VanderHeyden, our only senior, in the game. We rallied this game and had the lead multiple times. Taylor Shutt did a wonderful job passing for us as our libero. We missed some tough tips and made a few hitting errors, but ended up strong only losing 21-25. We have a week of practices ahead of us before we play Chetek on September 10th at home. Varsity also plays at the Ashland Invite on Saturday, September 12th. On September 15th all three teams play at Cumberland. Keep following along at www.sasdvolleyball.blogspot.com or on Twitter @SpoonerHSVB Our young team is going to work hard and give you some surprises.
